Birds are truly amazing, packed with cool abilities that make them stand out in the animal world. From soaring through the skies at incredible speeds to showing off surprising intelligence and communication skills, they’re full of surprises. When winter comes, many birds take on epic journeys to warmer places, navigating with the sun, stars, and even Earth’s magnetic field like built-in GPS. They gear up for these trips by storing energy and adapting in clever ways, making their lives a mix of adventure, survival, and pure wonder.

Places like Singapore are especially important during these journeys, acting as one of the best stopovers for migrating birds. Located along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway, Singapore provides rich feeding grounds like wetlands and coastal habitats, where birds can rest and refuel before continuing their long travels. This makes it a crucial pit stop in their incredible global adventure.

Here are some of my encounters of birds seen in Singapore.

Tiny creatures reveal a whole new world when seen up close, where details invisible to the naked eye suddenly come to life. Through a macro lens, insects transform into fascinating subjects—showcasing intricate patterns, delicate wings, and textures that look almost unreal. Despite their size, these small beings display incredible abilities, from precise movements to complex behaviors that help them survive in their environments. Capturing them in detail turns ordinary moments into something extraordinary, reminding us that even the smallest forms of life hold a quiet beauty and wonder worth noticing. 

Still life photography is the art of capturing everyday objects in a thoughtful and visually engaging way. By arranging subjects like food, natural elements, or simple items, photographers have full control over lighting, composition, and mood, turning ordinary scenes into something expressive and meaningful. It’s not just about what is photographed, but how it is presented—highlighting textures, colours, and details that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through careful styling and creativity, still life photography transforms the familiar into something artistic, inviting viewers to slow down and appreciate beauty in the simplest forms.
